I received an email from Photobucket, everything appeared to be normal until I started to read. Something just does not seem quite right? The header was from Photobucket, other information appears to be from Photobucket. When you see the picture below where I captured the content of the email, I'd be curious to know if you think the way the information is presented seems a bit off?

It sure does look unusual for Photobucket to send you this type of mailing. In gray print it says it is brought to you by "Motley Fool". Info found via Google below: If using IE and without left-clicking on the red links, can you right-click on the links and select "Properties" to see what URL they refer to?

There is also an option in Photobucket to unsubscribe to 3rd party business partners for advertising. I have all my Photobucket email options "unchecked". I don't need any emails from Photobucket, nor do I care if anyone likes my content. Just one less product I don't want email from.
If I purchase software... and have to register it with the company, I never set any email preferences to receive updates from that company about updates, newe software or products. If I want to see anything about a product I have, I search for it.

Flevokiwi ~ I have already marked the email as spam and it's been deleted. If I get another one like this, I'll take the time to look for URL's and post back in this thread. Wingman ~ thank you for your advise regarding the email opt-out. Quite honestly, I do not use the email address that Photobucket used as my primary login address? I'll keep an eye out for another email, and get into the Photobucket settings for changes. Thanks to you two!

Oh yes..scans are not picking up on anything 'yet'? I just received another email from them (Photobucket) today and forwarded it on to a trusted friend who has experience dealing with these type of nasties. I can't wait to learn if Photobucket is joining in with the ranks of "desperate" to get customers? VERY strange indeed...

Photobucket is using 3rd party advertisers to help pay for Photobucket. I have all my emails from Photobucket turned off and have yet to receive anything from them. Some 3rd party advertisers do not have a problem including spyware in there advertisements so they can get a "feel" for a user's browsing or shopping habits.
Unless you want emails from some 3rd party, who very well may sell your email address to other 3rd party "entrepreneurs" and on and on and on... uncheck getting emails from various places for updates to their products or other special services they may offer.

Update ~ I have egg on my face, and it's not a facial! Turns out I had never gone into "settings" with Photobucket..and everything possible was ticked! And..I did not realize that I had ever registered with the emailaddress where I had received the suspicious emails! If every day I can learn something new, today is one of them! Thank you, to all who contributed to my learning curve! Case closed.
