Thanks, QM. Manually downloaded and installed for both my Windows 7 as Windows XP installations. Windows XP was connected to the internet for this purpose only and disconnected immediately after installation of the update completed. I use Windows XP only for applications that do not run on Windows 7 and later and don't need an enabled internet connection.

I appreciate your announcement QM7! My settings are manual, and in Windows 7 and XP the update was waiting! Thanks!

This works great!
My IE6 on XP Pro/SP3 doesn't work at all now.
Not that I ever used it anyway.

IMO Webb, I'd update to IE8 (I had never had a problem) then do the security update again?

Since I'm going to change (I refuse to call it an upgrade) operating systems to Windows 7 soon I'm not overly concerned with things like this. I just want to keep the viruses and spyware out for now.

I read that article from the post at TEG... seems another line in the sand has been drawn.

This sudden "rescue" for XP might make many folks who went out and purchased a new computer due to the "end of XP" furious! IMO not a good move on the part of MS! :oopssign:

The patch didn't make the use of Windows XP any safer. Just the use of IE.
